Mobile application and guide for the Interpretation Center of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić in Slavonski Brod

In 2011, the City of Slavonski Brod, wishing to revive the character and work of its fellow citizen Ivana Brlić Mažuranić, embarked on a project of rebuilding the old house Brlić, a protected cultural asset in which she lived. The complete renovation was a part of the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020 with the project proposal Integrated Programme - The Interpretation Center of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, worth over 16 million kuna.

Through the design and multimedia installation of the Interpretation Center of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, Slavonski Brod gained a new tourist attraction dedicated to the preservation and presentation of cultural heritage and memories of the famous fairytale writer. As part of the project, a mobile application "Doživi bajku" was also created, which improves the experience of the destination through available digital content and allows visitors to explore the magical world of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić in a unique way.

Background

The city of Slavonski Brod has decided to revitalize the house of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić by combining the traditional house setting and the modern authentic restoration in order to promote contemporary communication with visitors and create space for an interactive creative center.

Challenge

One of the multimedia solutions was to deliver a high-quality and visually impressive solution in the form of a mobile application, i.e. a mobile guide, which would guide visitors through the story of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić during their visit.

Our approach

The idea of the mobile application is to simultaneously provide fun and educational content through various interesting facts about the life and works of the famous fairy tale writer and serve as a mobile guide for each of the rooms in which the visitor is located.

Solutions

The application "Doživi Bajku" was delivered, available for free to all devices with iOS and Android operating systems, and it displays content in two languages (Croatian and English). Users can also use the application to scan the QR codes in each of the rooms to get information according to the thematic units of the Brlić house.
