Design and implementation of an interactive multimedia outlet and digital signage solution
Privredna Banka Zagreb (Commercial Bank of Zagreb), a member of Intesa Sanpaolo group
The project’s objective was to transform a traditional bank branch outlet into an interactive multimedia outlet. A major challenge was to bridge the gap between the banking world and the very finicky client base – students! This branch is very different to other bank branches, with a section dedicated exclusively to students.
In the Student Zone one can find a “student banker”, free magazines, free internet, and iPads. The whole decor is like a lounge. But that is not all. The floor is interactive, information is projected on the glass wall, and touch screen based information devices are there as well.
The first innovation was use of projectors and motion detectors to achieve interactivity based on the floor being used in lieu of a touch screen.
Users control the application by walking on the floor! In the background, the “screen” is projected on the glass wall, which is integrated with the floor projection.

With this installation marketing platform extends its reach to audience outside the branch, becoming an interactive advertising channel that works on a 24x7 basis. It also allows integration of audio with user applications.
Visibility and attention grabbing is greatly enhanced at night, and thus its reach.
The task for the creative team was to customise PandoPad® Shop Window to suit the bank’s requirements regarding display of promotions, plus to adapt to user interface the classic PandoPad® AdsHub module for display of video advertisements adding QR codes for non-interactive communications.
The most interesting and the most creative part was the work on floor and wall projections. Users (customers) literally walk over the floor projection and thus interact with the application. The goal, to create a modern “student ambient”, was achieved.
For interactive, touch screen based, information channel we deployed PandoPad® INTERACTIVE. For content management we deployed PandoPad® Manager. Interactive projections and games were implemented through use of professional grade long term projectors and a network of infrared cameras for motion detection.
After going live with this solution the plan is now to develop some new specialised PandoPad applications, which will require integration with existing bank’s IT systems.
